For three days Saint Petersburg has become the capital of healthy lifestyle industry: the 3rd Saint Petersburg International Health Forum has gathered chief executives of the leading companies specialized in pharmaceutics and biotechnologies, medical equipment manufacturing, and health tourism from 12 countries of the world.
Greeting the participants of the forum the Governor of Saint Petersburg Georgy Poltavchenko said that the event was a useful business platform, because care for people’s health is one of the main missions and top priorities of any state: “Supporting this line the Government of the city pays careful attention to the prestige of medical profession and to fitting hospitals with modern equipment. Child health is under special control, as a result of which Saint Petersburg remains the leader in improving demographic situation in Russia. Moreover, pharmaceutical and medical industry of the city is developing very successfully”.
Every year the forum demonstrates unique possibilities of Russian and world industry. This year about 100 companies gathering on the area of about 4,500 square meters presented their medical devices and equipment, pharmaceutical products, medical and health-improving services, biotechnologies and aesthetic medicine services. The following industry leaders were among the exhibitors: Doctor Supply, Baltic Care, Biomed, Pharmacenter Vilar, Lebedev Physics Institute, the Cluster of medical and ecological instrument engineering and biotechnologies of Saint Petersburg and many others, as well as such well-known companies like Porsa, West Medica, Diagram Paper Factory, Krasnogvardeyets, Dealmed, and Trima.
Within the frameworks of the forum 12 business events took place with the support of relevant ministries and departments, clusters and associations. The key event was a plenary meeting titled “Children’s and teenagers’ health” organized with the participation of the World Health Organizations (WHO) and “Healthy cities, regions, and towns” Association, where the specialists raised the topic of demography as the main national project of Russia. “Today Russian families have at average one and a half child, and population growth is possible only when parents have three children. According to the forecast, in case of continuance of the current trends the country population size by 2025 can reduce by 20 million people. From 2017 the experts are waiting for birthrate downswing in Russia, because people born in the nineties will attain childbearing age that year. And healthcare institutions now have many problems, which are to be solved for the purpose of improving the demographical situation in Russia”, − the Director of “D. O. Ott Obstetrics, Gynecology, and Fertility Science Research Institute” Federal State Budgetary Scientific Institution, member of the Russian Academy of Sciences Eduard Aylamazyan said.
The 3rd Annual International Conference «Contemporary Medical Centres. Investments. Equipment. Personnel», which is aimed at the discussion of the healthcare system problems and development prospects of the Russian Federation, was held on October the 14th – 15th in Saint Petersburg. It was attended by around 100 specialists and experts in medical sphere.

The participants of the round table dedicated to commercialization of innovation projects in the area of biopharmaceutics and biomedicine told about development and implementation of new technologies.
At the conference titled “Physiotherapy, rehabilitation, and sanatorium-resort therapy in orthopedics and traumatology” specialists paid a lot of attention to injuries and diseases of musculoskeletal system organs. “Physiotherapeutic methods have strong influence on the process of musculoskeletal system and its functional diseases treatment”, − the Doctor of Medicine, Professor of the North Western State Medical University named after I. I. Mechnikov Vera Kiryanova said.
The participants of the conference titled “Aesthetic Medicine” raised issues regarding beauty and health industry.
Saint Petersburg International Health Forum is a unified platform for healthcare professionals, which consolidates the major players of MICE industry (such as Expoforum-International, Primexpo, and Messe Düsseldorf Moscow) under one exhibition brand.
